Reading Xibaipo is a masterpiece that comprehensively and deeply interprets the spirit of Xibaipo from a new perspective and unique position. With a strong sense of concern for reality, the author closely combines reality and ponders deeply. Through rich and vivid historical materials, the author reveals Xibaipo’s landmark status and contributions, deeply thinks about the significant turning process and historic innovations of the Xibaipo period, and explains the historical significance, profound ideological connotation, and excellent qualities of the emergence of Xibaipo’s spirit. This book was published by the Learning Publishing House affiliated to the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, and has been recommended as one of the ten good books that must be read to celebrate the centennial of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It was selected for the Publicity Department to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China’s top quality publication exhibition, a good textbook for the national cadre education and training, and the key introduction book to the National Reading Day.

Sun Wanyong states that the spirit of Xibaipo has profound connotations, and its charm has not faded with the passage of time, but still has shined and remained fresh through time. Shijiazhuang University closely focuses on local economic and social development, contributes to the construction of the provincial capital, and has achieved good results in promoting the Xibaipo spirit. We hope that this donation can promote the school to further integrate social resources, deeply explore, organize, and promote the Xibaipo spirit, set an example in the academic, ideological, and educational circles of the provincial capital, and make greater progress in the research field of Xibaipo spirit, contributing more to local economic and social development.

On behalf of the whole school, Chen Liang expresses his gratitude to Sun Wanyong. He points out that on the occasion of the “March 23”—the examination day, our school has received a gift of Reading Xibaipo, which is of extraordinary significance and great value. Reading Xibaipo is a fine work of the new era that is thoughtful, coherent, deeply layered, and well narrated. It is highly ideological, infectious, and readable. It is a fine work of persuasion, culture, and emotion. As the only municipal undergraduate university in Shijiazhuang, our university is highly in line with the needs of local economic and social development. This donation will not only further enrich the collection of the school library, create a richer campus cultural atmosphere, provide strong support for building a cultural stone academy, and for the growth of teachers and students, but also serve as a link to further expand our school’s vision in the field of Xibaipo research, thereby promoting teaching, scientific research, talent cultivation, and other work to a new level. Standing at the new historical starting point of the school’s “second entrepreneurship”, the school will uphold the examination spirit, fully implement the Party’s educational policies, implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and cultivating people, fully translate the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the work requirements of the provincial and municipal committees into the school’s goals, tasks, specific actions, and actual results, and effectively demonstrate the role of Shijiazhuang University in the new journey of comprehensively building a socialist modern country.

After the donation ceremony, Sun Wanyong gave a keynote lecture titled From “Two Musts” to “Three Musts” — Learning from the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China for the participating teachers, discussing the historical logic and theoretical implications of the transition from “Two Musts” to “Three Musts” from a new perspective, and profoundly explaining the era significance and rich connotation of “Three Musts”. It has strong guiding significance for our school to further study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
